hey guys i bought a 2-3 inch red eared slider today and it is sooooo cute
i dont know if its male or female
if anyone out there owns one please tell me how to care for it
is it ok for it to be single or do they have to have a partner? i could afford only one so thats why i didnt get the pair !!!

ok thanks and btw i have put it in water .... those pics were when i brought it home and took it out of the packet....u will see in the first pic that he is in water
 
Cute litle guy, cant get tyerd of baby sliders :D but hummm you do realize that cute litle baby will grow into a 12 inch adult if female (males are a bit smaller) that will need either a pond or a very large aquarium in order to be healty and happy, and that you will have to look for it during the next 20 or more years?
 
Do not get it a partner, most species of turtle are solitary in nature, and will at best tolerate another animal in the tank. Another turtle leads to possibilities of aggression, competition for food, double the tank size, double the medical bills, and infection. Not a good plan.

My main concern is that you could only afford one RES (which are very cheap usually, under $10 in most places). You're aware the turtle is the cheapest element of the hobby? The tank, filter, heater, lighting and everything else is going to cost a great deal of money. Please research animals in the future, before impulse buying.

lol.......when i said i couldnt afford a pair i didnt mean i dont have cash......i went to the lfs to by a flowerhorn and i bought this guy with the money that was left after buying the fh ...... i will post pics of that fh soon....my comp crashed and im using my friends comp at the moment so will post pics as soon as my comp is working
as for its lodging, right now its in a small tank but im setting up one of my 3ft fish tanks for him in my room so ill be moving him into that
