My new trimac (Rio Naranjo)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He's a little over 6" now and has really changed overall coloration. He's very interactive and out front just about all the time. I'll eventually change out the entire substrate setup for play sand, but this is how it's working for now.

Excuse the dirty tiles in these pics - I took them immediately before a tank cleaning and water change.

so how many different trimacs are they?

They're all the same species other than collection point and some coloring differences. You have the classic trimac which is more mustard yellow and pink in the throat area, and then this Rio Naranjo coloration is more olive green tinted instead of super bright yellow and the throat is a little darker and reddish. At least that's how I understand it to be.

Hello everyone... Has anyone bred a Trimac with a female dovii?? In my case my Male Trimac likes the dovii instead of the female trimac. I haveny heard of a case about trimac breeding with a dovii. What do u guys think??? And i want to apologise for my Spelling.

Yes, I believe it's possible a trimac and dovii could breed. It'd probably be an odd looking hybrid, though. If you have a female trimac in there as well, you may want to rehome the dovii or put it in another tank to avoid them pairing up and taking everything else out when breeding.

Rampage i was trying to do that buddy.. but he wants to kill my female trimac since i got them. Everytime i try to put them together so they could get used to eachother it fails.. she got beat up couple of times already. I have a divider in between them right now. But it seems that he wants the female dovii better.

Have you tried putting a hole in the divider? Just big enough for her to get through.... So she can escape the Male when she needs to.

Yes i have.. but once she gets beat up, she wont go back to the other side of the divider, till i put her back. And honestly he likes the female dovii, there always together. But im still go try to make it work with the female trimac. But honestly i think it will be ok if he breeds with my dovii?? Or should i take her out. I never seen or heard and dovii and trimac breed. It could be a first. So plz give me your honest opinion bro. Thx
