I love cockatoos, but so many of them have a lot of mental issues. I will stick to my little Senegal parrot. He has the attitude of his big cousin the Grey, but a quarter the size (and beak!).
same here. I know of one that was aboused so severely, whenever anyone tried to enter his house that wasn't one of his people (he only had 2), he would totally go ballistic on them. at least the worst my budgie can do is give me a bad pinch.jconley;582330; said:I love cockatoos, but so many of them have a lot of mental issues. yes some are very nasty and do not like to share a person. They actually think that you are their partner for life..just as they would be in the wild with their parrot partner.. then that person sells them or gives them away and they are so hurt they pull their feathers out etc.. netherwords they are very emotional, and once attached they cannot live with out you, and because they live so long 50-75 years it even makes it worse on them. So they end up with alot of issues..but this is all parrots.. cockatoos just seem to suffer more because they are so high strung.fishcatch22;582338; said:same here. somehow, I think it has to do with them being hand raised by humans. ones that are raised by their natural parents get attached to people, but are more versitiale with their attachments and not as obsessive.Red Devil;582421; said:yes some are very nasty and do not like to share a person. I think you are correct in that assumption.. we are what they see from their first moment so what else would they know.. and because they are extremely intelligent and emotional they bond completely with humans..fishcatch22;582424; said:somehow, I think it has to do with them being hand raised by humans. ones that are raised by their natural parents get attached to people, but are more versitiale with their attachments and not as obsessive.
