Beautiful WC native specimens!
thanks tankboi!!!

Awesome what did you catch them on? Was it at a lock or spillway?
Chicken liver :WHOA: I know Dont ask me how? It was about 10'-15' from a "spillway" (huge drainage tubes) next to a bunch or lily pads.

yeah def treat them for parasites, but if i remember gars dont handle some medications so well, so id watch em closely before adding them to the main tank.
Thanks for the advice. I am thinking just doing the heat and salt treament. Is this enough?

Nice catches man. I see your from GA. Where did you catch these guys?
And the gar looks to be a Fla.
Grand bay in Lowndes county next to moody air force base.
I was thinking it was a Florida, Where can spotted gar be found and why are they so rare?

On Wednesday and Thursday that passed, I have all the fish I wanted except for the pumpkinseed on long-ear sunfish. I don't think I will have room even when I get the 300!! I bought 5 warmouth from aquabid(thanks to you got them on Wed. and I caught a blue gill. I went fishing with my Dad on Thurs. caught 2 more Warmouths, 1 large mouth bass and another blue gill, all of them went in the tank. WHEW!!!
So far all are getting along, the dominant blue gill is trying to throw it's weight around with the warmouths. Dad caught a common musk turtle, it's living with my other 4.
I should have the 300 by the end of August.
Cant wait till you get your 300 they are so "BEASTY" :headbang2 It is truly a monster tank/pond. I am about to trade out one of my 100 for a 135 pretty soon so i can do some rearranging of my fish. Good to hear from you.

Here are some better pics

Love the pics!!! I am hoping to add the long ear or the pumkinseed if there is room in the 300. I don't know yet, if the bass pulls through, I don't think I will. Luckily all the fish are too big for the bass to eat except for the green sunfish. The green is growing fast though. Too much decoration for the bass to get through to get the green. I am going to keep a watch, might have to move it. It has too much spunk, fire and personality to let it become fish food!!!

How is the bowfin doing with the gar? Aggression?

Excellent no issues so far. I got them in a 110 quarantine tank right now. then i am going to add them to my 300.

Okay i has been a week and 3 days, both specimens are eating well. I even saw the bowfin do a death roll on a shiner. :headbang2 No signs of aggression from either party so far. will keep those interest posted.

wow beautiful catches they should be some perfect additions to your 300 keep us with the updates for these guys when you transfer them...

Just wondering what is a good time range to keep the quarantined?

I am not an expert, but I know that wild-caught specimen need to be throughly quarantined and "dewormed" before introducing them to an established set-up.

As I am not an expert, I don't know what "deworming" exactly involves..:)

Good luck,
Sid

PS: Quoted price (before haggling) for an 8" Spotted Gar in Bombay is about 25 USD.. So, yes.. I am jealous!!!
