It just hasn't grown into its head yet. I'm pretty sure thats a Midas. The jaw and lip shape seems like it to me.

looks more red devil than midas, probably a mix of both.

no mix here, that's a citrinellus.

I got the Midas from a friend of mine, he has the parents, both are Midas. The ol'man is 10" with a nice nauchal hump. The female is an 8" beauty, at least I'm sure he thinks so.

When I first got the Trimac some people said "it looks like a low grade Flower Horn," now the Midas is a hybred. Whats up with all the hybred paranoia? I don't get it. Maybe too many threds about "my Jag just f***** my German Sheperd so what size tank will I need?"

I just made myself laugh!!!!! It's all in good fun. Thanks:ROFL:

But hybrids aren't bad for the hobby.. :screwy: urgh. Irresponsible fish keepers are like the plague.

the hybrid paranoia isnt just paranoia, the majority of red devils and midas at local fish stores are a mix of the two. so unless your buddy got his "midas" from a reputable breeder/importer they are probably a hybrid of the two. most local sold trimacs are also flowerhorns, for the same reason as the midas/devils. people have them in there tanks, they breed hybrids, the people take the fry and sell them as one or the other. it then floods the hobby with hybrids. my "red devils" look more red devil than midas but i still call them "midevils" it just sounds cooler.

I have the same combination, different sex.
I have a female Trimac (from Rapps) and a Midas/Red Devil/Hybrid (unknown sex).
I assume yours are in the same tank.
How is the aggression?

Oh, I also have a hybrid dog; rotweiller/lab mix.
Your German Shepard missed out on this one.

Yes - They are both in the same tank, 110 gal. They both swim together all the time since I put the "Midevil" (good name I'll use it) in the tank. I have two female cons in the tank and they both chase them and seem, for now to get along fine. I'm pretty sure the Trimac is a male I have no Idea what the Midas is too young yet.

My German Shepard is too busy on my Jag right now too worry about anything else, but I'll send you a "Spotted Dog Fish" when the fry hatch..........:grinno: I always appreceate a good sense of humor.
