Nice pickup...

I would love to see pics or vid of your gill cutting technique. Care to take pics next time or elaborate on the process?

haha... I dun have another pair of helpng hands to help me take pictures while I'm doing the op on the fella.

Anyway, I will try to explain through words..

1) Bag fish into a bag (ensure the fish is not fed for at least a day and water in the bag is cool)
2) Drop in stabilizier slowly and by drops. Do not follow the recommended dosage written on the bottle for each fish's tolerance towards this product is different. Observe the fish reaction to the stabilizer as you apply.
3) Once the fish is knocked out, take it out and place it on to a damp cloth and constantly splash some water from the bag on it to prevent the fish from drying up.
4) Use a good pair of sharp sicssors to cut along the hard gillplate and trim away any uneven soft tissue away.
5) Put fish back into the main tank and try holding the fish's head above a good flow of air from the airstone.
6) When the fish regain consious, release the fish and let it swim by itself.
7) Do not feed for the next one day.

Just curious how long this process takes? Im thinking about doing a fin cutting to one of my aros due to it being damaged and growing back incorrectly...

how long does this procedure take koji and what brand is the stabilizer (any pics of product)? have you got any tips on cutting tail to make it grow wider if u have done before? (my old uncle in singapore got this done by fish vet/doctor looks very nice)

It really depend on the fish. That's why I say apply the stabilizer slowly and observe your fish throughout of the process. I have been doing this kinda procedure and thus pretty used to it. But it's always good to learn this procedure.:)

I'm using transmore here in singapore. But as long it's fish stablizier, I'm sure they have the same effect.;)

As for the tail enlargement procedure, it's not really a one time process. You need to know where and how to spilt the tails and then when they healed, you got to repeat the process again in some cases.
