My not so little rescue!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd like to keep a tortoise some day and I have a nice sized yard in which to construct a nice outdoor pen for one but I also live in southestern Pennsylvania so it would have to come inside during the winter months.I'd have to build an indoor pen which I don't have very much space for.

Don't forget there are smaller species of tortoises you can try like Russians, Red-foots, Pancakes and Hinge-backs to name a few. Many of these don't get much bigger than a foot in shell length and don't need the extra large enclosures like Sulcatas. I personally have always wanted a few Red-foots.

Yes,I have been researching red foots.

Check out Cherry Head Red Foots. Awesome, colorful little torts that stay a little smaller than the typical "Northern" variety of Red Foots.

Okay,I wasn't aware that there were different types of red foot tortoise.

I'm probably getting a bolivian redfoot soon. Just needs to warm up, and I need to make up my mind. Redfoot v.s Green Cheek conure v.s HD burm

Seth, he looks nice. You realize we require daily updates right? ;)

Thank you, he's definitely liking the outdoor time. I had him outside again today for half an hour or so of grazing. The next step is setting up an outdoor pen. I think I might also make a smaller, mobile pen that I can put him in to graze without the worries of him getting lost. We have a few acres and I have plenty of grass that needs cut!

Thought I'd share this pic I took yesterday. I went outside to check on my tortoise and found him following a big Black Rat Snake across the yard. :)
