hey guys, ive been keeping fish for about 4 or 5 years now, and ive always had at least a few polypterus here and there, but it was in mid to late May this year that i actually put together a strictly polypterus tank setup. I started off with 3 senegalus (2 regular and 1 albino) and since then i raised my collection up to 22 polypterus in my 90 gallon, some of you might say its overstocked but i think its fine... CDM's tank floor is more crowded than mine at the moment and no one complains about his tank =P

ANYWAY, back to the topic of the post, i was just really proud of how my collection is coming along because these are truely my favorite fish, easy and hardy, beautiful in my eyes, and just all around cool fish. and my goal now, is to collect all known species and subspecies of polypterus, so far ive got

P. Senegalus (X3)
P. Delhezi (X3)
P. Ornatipinnis(X3)
P. Buettikoferi
P. Palmas Polli
P. Lapradei (X3)
P. Endlicheri Endlicheri
P. Endlicheri Congicus
P. Bichir Sp. "Koliba"
P. Retropinnis
P. Weeksii
E. calabaricus

so that leaves me needing...
P. ansorgii
P. teugelsi
P. bichir katangae
P. mokolembembe
P. Bichir Bichir

AM I MISSING ANYTHING ELSE?!?

P.S. i know you guys have been wanting the tank shots of all my polys... i promise i will get them to you guys when my water clears up, it should be in a few days, i dont like showing any pictures unless my water is crystal clear

Damnit, that is a hell of a lot of bichirs! I am bitten by the fish keeping bug, too. You aren't alone. I have 1 bichir lol. But I still love him.

You're missing a bigger tank!!!
All honesty though thats a nice collection you have but those bigger sp. will need a serious upgrade at some point in time.

oh thats right, i had a palmas palmas but he jumped out last week and didnt make it =( i covered the tiny holes i saw left and ill be ordering another palmas palmas from toyin soon, a mokolembembe will be ordered too if he has them available. only thing that breaks my heart is that ansorgii, teugelsi, and bichir bichir is WAY out of my price range...

and i have ropefish included at the end of the list of my already obtained species

this thread is worthless without pics :grinno:

well those 3 may be out of your price range, but so far the only thing i could find in nebraska have been senegals and ropefish, so every other one was out of my buying range......:'(
