Very nice mate! How long ago did you have the K’s? Did they ever successfully spawn and produce fry for you?
A trip down memory lane…

I had them for around 3 years. I got them at about 4–5 inches in late 2022.

These photos were taken in 2023.

They tried to spawn a few times but never succeeded. Unfortunately, the female Spider Kelberi died in 2024. after that two males kept fighting nonstop, so I decided to give them away for the best.

I love kels. I had a breeding pair but the male had a lot of issues. He passed at about 5. The remaining female is 7 going on 8. She is a crack up. I pet her and even hug here with my hands. She has a bit of eyesight problems but she can still snap up a fish immediately. She is in with a 9" jurupari.
Lately she has started flaring her gills a lot. I don't know, kelberi Alzheimer's? LOL
But she and the eartheater are cool. They swim together and he will even nuzzle up to her.

Unfortunately it is with great sadness that I had to put her (Theo) down tonight. She has been sort of fighting something for the last couple weeks. Off and on. She has had a couple times of convulsions but would spring back. She has been sort of tilted back the last few days. This has happened before but she shook it off. I thought it may be constipation. She was following me today when I walked by the tank today. Tonight she was found upside down. I took her out and gently pressed her stomach as I was concerned about bloat. A clear liquid came out. I put her back in the tank. She tried to swim but ended up back at the bottom upside down. I couldn't take putting her through this anymore as chances of recovery probably very slim. I put her down with clove oil.
Side note, the earth eater was very disturbed by this. He has been by her side almost 24/7 the last few days.
