I think you have a boy. Sorry about the angles. I just turned on the lights and they are both hiding. Pic one is male, pic 2 is the face of my female.

Think it's a female, but not 100 % sure I know you can sex pikes by the lines that run vertical in the body or belly area. Straight = male think someone will know for sure on this site. Mike

thanks, hopefully it would turn out female but only time would tell i guess :)

thanks, hope you can post some whole body pics of your female ;)

Spiz...lol...as of right now both of your pikes are looking male...sorry bro...lol.

Kido, yours is looking male as well. Really you can't tell accurately until they reach around 8 to 10" when they start getting the adult coloration. If there is white stripe in the dorsal, its almost 100% accurately sure its a female.

There is some debate about the vertical muscle striations. It appears that males have it more often than females, but its still possible for females to have them and then they disappear as they age.

Its kinda fun not knowing, makes it that much more of a surprise when they reach maturity!!

wow sexy looking fish, very nice

Look at the last two pics again. The colors are totally different. The male has a ton of black on the edges, the female* looks completely different? Maybe I am wrong though..You are the pro, not me...:)

They look pretty much the same to me...;). Its all about size though, the larger fish is going to be further along on the color changes than the smaller fish...;). Give them a couple more inches, then it will be easier to determine the sex more accurately...;)
