when i got home today and went to check on my rays.....i found my orbignyi laying almost lifeless and moist almost dried out. I got him back into the pond which to my surprise he was still breathing. i quickly added some salt but not sure what else i could do for this guy, any thoughts? also the pond is 8'x4'x2'. he has been chewing on my female mantilla's disc, maybe trying to do the nasty and jumped out? i also found signs of blood on his claspers. anyone else ever experience this? chances of survival? not sure how long he was out of the water.

Put lots of oxygen in the water. If you got any powerheads, place them all in the tank now. Good luck!

Not much else you can do unless you see some fungus or something show up. He was probably showing off for the ladies like us guys do and went a little overboard.

Do you hand feed over the tank edge? Perhaps he was hungry and was trained to "jump" up for food?

No tank cover?

he is hand fed but was fed good before i left. i currently dont have a lid for the pond but can make a diy one now. might of been trying to show off but he normally is an aggressive swimmer.

Have any pics? When you pm'ed me i found this so odd.

i just went down to check on him and he still isnt moving around but flapping his disc every once in a while. he is hanging out next to the powerhead and disc bubbler.

sounds like he is fighting, i leard the hard way to about lids and even when u have a lid make sure its heavy lol. i hope he makes it.

I'd get ready for fungus. I had a fish jump once that I found almost dried out but somehow still breathing (a goldfish when I was a kid, it actually popped open the top), and it survived over two weeks before the fungus became so bad that it died. Good luck!
