no he didnt make it.....i watch as he stopped breathing 
he went thru what appeared to be a very painful death curl and when his disc straightened out he stopped breathing and shortly after his color went pail.....what i did notice when i first put him in the pond is that his tail was already pail and appeared to be dead already as it was stiff as a rock and was curved and wouldnt straighten out.
