My Oscar ate a piece of apple!

My Oscar ate a piece of apple! Then he ate one more! Next...bananas! After awhile goes by. I figure once per week is good for fruit... Opinions?

oscars are garbage disposals if it can fall into their water in the wild theres a good chance they'll eat it. If they eat it in the wild it cant be all bad, could be wrong though haha... was just a thought.

yeah It can't hurt , I imagine in the wild fruit would fall out of trees into the water all the time and the hungry oscars would probably eat anything they can get their hands on.

my oscar eats grapes and pieces of oranges,good treat once a week,the more variety the better for oscars

my uncle live in Vietnam, he has maybe a possibly a 20k gallon tank, 20'x10'x7'. not exact measurements. but he had a huge Oscar in it at least a foot long, and around and it will eat anything. its mainly fed tofu, my uncle is a monk. it will eat any leaf that drops in the pond. or jump 1 foot out of the water to bite my finger. man he was huge

I heard on the news that apples are apparently causing breast cancer now. Better check your Oscar for lumps.

Variety is good! Mine eat, apples, squash, grapes, but the fave is Zucchini!

try pomegranite seeds or strawberries and black cherries . i have a friend who feeds rose petals to his heros , jds , and cubans

Yep they eat fruit. I would avoid acidic fruits though like Oranges etc.
