my oscar has died suddenly

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think the issue is that the bioload has become too much for the filters as well and they just don't have enough media to support it anymore, thus causing the ammonia to start to rise. Definitely need more biomedia. Good thinking, I overlooked the filtration sizes and tank sizes.

thanks for the help guys ill get the ammonia lock n do the changes. and uprate the filter any recomendations on a filter. and the best media to use

What do you have in the way of surface agitation? From the sounds of it you do need more filtration, but thinking as long as you're looking into more equipment might double check that.

What's with all the negativity towards the OP for?

He obviously is here looking for help, if he doesn't know any bit of Ammonia is harmful then he has a lot to learn, so lets help him.

Read properly. they were just telling him nicely that ammonia is dangerous, even in small concentration.
It was the OP who started it by calling name. And I agree we should help him no matter.

Keep up with water changes and dose prime 5x as well as get stability to speed up the cycling process.

If ammonia is still present, it shows inadequate biological filtration. UPGRADE!

An FX5 should do for a 150, fill it all with bio-media, I use Matrix. If you have the budget, go eheim 2262

50% water changed both filers emptied cleaned n refit amoiniia lock added and some salt for disease

I hope you cleaned your filter in tank water and not tap water. And you can skip the salt. Your fish are suffering from ammonia poisoning. Salt won't do a thing, other than stressing your fish out. Unless its some disease like ich or nitrite poisoning.

EDIT : What is your nitrite level?
