Hi!!! I just got a free Juvi oscar at the fish store and it is acting very timid and just sitting in the corners lying i the sand!!!!!!! I read that they were middle level fish can he be stressed or just still getting used to his new tank!!!!!
Try throwing in some live fish for him to eat. Although yes they do tend to lay low for a while, a live meal really kicks any large cichlids instincts in and it will get some exercise aswell.
I usually have live rosies but i am out would a earth worm or black worms be good!!! or a betal or a centipead i have lots in my back yard!! and i actually baught black and earth worms to feed him should i throw a nice jucey earth worm in
u could try throwing in a worm, he should go for it, if he doesn't then remove the worm and wait about a day until he gets more accoustomed to his new home.
did you acclimate him right? Let us know how it's doing. I once kept a young oscar, and was only about 2inches. Ate everything it could get it's mouth into. Then, got a little bigger, and tried to eat or pick at some of it's tankmates. Had to give it up. Was a sad day.
