my bass has ick. he was in a 55 with an arrowana and a jardini. the arrowana died from ick. the jardini died from the coppersafe water treatment. I put the pbass in a new tank because he had no symptoms. I just established a new 150 recently. he is now currently in the tank with another pbass. a new jardini and arrowana, 2 plecos, pyliptourus, and a blue lobster. now that he has ick I have to treat the water. and its hard to get the invertabrites out of the water. but im also afraid of my other fish who DONT have ick are gonna die from the treatment. I am about to throw him in an old tank uninhabbited by any fish. even if I take him out im afriad my other fish will get ick die. what do I do?

add some aquarium salt and raise the temp that should work and not kill any other fish

also do a water change and vacuum the gravel and wash any decorations or plants so you can kill the ich because it lives in the gravel

It cant reproduce above 86 degrees

Stop moving him around, you will just spread the ICK and it causes stress. Just treat the whole tank. Add salt and upp the temp.

JUSt an FYI That jardini will end up killing everything so watch out.

scaleless fish don't like salt so don't use too much if you have any, up the temp to 86 or more (preferably 90 if the fish can take it) with salt as everyone said, might want to add aeration/water movement with high temps

:iagree:

acutally ick comes from alot of variables.(which can be unknown)
-It can be cause by rapid tempature changes like adding hot water to cold water with the fish in it (just like puting hot glass in water it will break- by end up having ick.)

-It can also be cause by adding certain kinds of outdoor rocks uncleaned and unpolish rocks that cand leave residue.

-it can be cause by adding feeders to you tank that the vedor didn't keep good water quality at the time.

My sugestion is to Quaratine the fishes and do water 10-15percent water change everyday until it's gone it usually should take only 5-7days. Remember this Number One rule!

Never painic when you have and ick problem you are going to end up stressing the fish out more then you are!
-Remember that ick medication make you fishes week an shivel up and won't like to eat under heavy medacation they need to eat in oder to keep up a good vitality.

and good luck to your fishes!

well mind as well say rest in peace to your fish!:screwy:

I fix a whole tank with over 20 fishes with ick and the all survied, You, just should be fooling youself!
don't tell other what you anit so sure about, if you have not done it your self! you can mind as well comitte to just killing his fish.... i've gone through that process before.

People like that shouldn't give suggestions that can get you favorite pets killed.

I have treat in temperture ranges around 70-80degress. YOur tempeture that you give.... will only add to your fishes stress.
