Thanks satans goldfish. I am comitted to these fish so I'll do what I have to but they wont hit 2 feet in a heart beat that will take time so until then I'll just start building up to it
Cheers :)

If you are truly committed to your fish, you're going to have to think BIG. REALLY BIG. Pacu are long-lived fish that can live 30+ years in the right conditions. In small overcrowded tanks with poor water parameters they might live 2 years. Our pacu have outgrown their 300 gallon tank. To keep nitrates low, we have to do massive weekly water changes--back-to-back 60% changes. We are in the process of building a fish room to house their new tank which is 15' x 4' x 4'.

Under the right conditions, your pacu may get this big. Under the wrong conditions, they'll most likely just die

These fish are only a few inches long at the moment. Im moving them into the bigger tank and if needs be i'll upgrade. The P-bass was a suggestion i dont have any and the only other fish i have are the oscars a plec and the bichir I have other tanks but thats for other fish. What would you suggest tank size wise then???

I know, there's some good internet warriors here that would rather be insulting than try and help advise somebody new to these potentially huge fish. Sorry if mine comes across that way, it's not supposed to. Pacu are great fish with good personality and will give you years of entertainment.

Have a look in the DIY Projects and Ideas forum for ideas on how to go big! The cheapest easiest option is to get a metal framed Intex paddling pool if indoor pond is acceptable of tank.

I wasnt reffering to you mate dont worry :)
I had a look at some of the ideas on there some are pretty awesome!

Self building a huge tank/pond is one of the most satisfying things you'll do if you choose that route, i can fully recommend it. It's not always without nightmares but that just makes it more rewarding when it finally all works.
