Holy ______.

That is crazy. I'm extremely surprised/impressed he hasn't let go yet... Good luck.

I've never seen a Pacu cause that kind of damage before...

Yeah, I knew he was a fighter, but when my fiance first found him, I thought for sure he was a gonner! Was sad sad. Anyhow, thank you! :)

lol, yeah, I'm honestly pretty convinced that my pacu does it simply because it knows it can...

oh and my male fh did this to my female fh, stripped her bare of fins and scales and i didnt think her tail would grow back because he had eaten right down to the actual skin, but she grew it all back within 2 weeks and looks great now :headbang2

Ah, glad to hear it! I love stories with happy endings! :D

Thank you all for the well wishes! I'll definitely post updates, um, that is, if there continue to be any ;)

i am really surprised your pacu did this.. i quess every fish is different .. and it happens,.. very sad to see your o in such a condition... heart wrenching.. but there is the possiblitlity he could make it.. as long as no vital parts are gone or injured.. i hope he makes it..

Yeah, Pacus are nasty. No one ever seems to believe this, either because they see them as toothless piranhas with cuter faces, or because they got some of the nicer ones. I've got one of the nasty ones, too.

Pacu's really are the sh**!!! just sucks they grow like a foot a day, LOL

I had one briefly and it was a monster it ate three JD's in a week. my fault i kept adding them after he ate them.

Thanks everyone.

Liz, nice to hear from you :)

Not sure why mine's so nutzo either (but it's nice to know there are others out there with Nasty Pacu!). But yeah, seeing my O like that made my tummy turn too, felt aweful for it.

BUT, seems to be doing well & still on the mend! I'm thinking it might actually make it! :D Tough little booger...

I imagine it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that our 5yr old sits at the tank chanting "Fight, fight, fight for your life". :grinno:

I CAN TOTALLY ASSURE YOU THAT IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS in addition to your care

I am a firm believer that although fish do not understand words they do understand emotions.

I really hope your oscar makes it good wc, some salt and perhaps a dose of antifungal to keep infection out of the wound

go dogfish go

tell you 5year old i think its great he is pullin for the fish like that :headbang2

Very nice msg, thank you. I will definitely pass the msg along to my boy! :) It'll make him feel good.
And yes, we agree that they understand emotion as well. :D
