Honestly, I do not know if I am just overly deep on life, but can it be that the majority of people are stupid, or, that they indeed are smart but do stupid stuff.

I wanted to start this thread just to vent a bit at the ridiculous stuff I see people doing.

Today as I was driving to work with my family, we came to the overpass where they have shut down the oncoming side as it is time to repave that side. The side we were on was shut down last week and is newlyl paved.

So we are driving in the lefthand land and headed towards us driving the wrong way is a vehicle. Since it was not a busy time in the morning I moved my van to be in the middle of the two lanes so as to make this person stop.

I proceeded to get him to roll down his window and asked him what he thought he was doing driving the wrong way. To this he responds "Well they have the other side blocked off." :WHOA:

So I had a few words for him and then moved my van to let him pass, in second thought I should have made him drive backwards till he got to the intersection where he entered the wrong side of the underpass. At the intersection the person in the jeep who was behind me rolled down his window and we had one of those both shake our head and just laugh moments.

Another thing that happened today was this.

There is this pillar cement outcrop thing in front of my restaurant about 12 feet away from my front counter.

So 2 people stop there and have what is clearly a sensitive conversation about something which I will not make mention of, suffice to say the lady seemed to be from the human rights commision of the university and they were discussing a matter which should have by all rights have been discussed behind closed doors, yet for some reason they are talking about this in general public. Very easily overheard by anyone at my counter, myself included.

They were there for at least half hour to forty five minutes, and the lady kept looking over at me like there is something wrong with me because I can obviously hear them. Well I felt like telling her off with some comment like HEY YOU TWO GET A ROOM, but thought better of it because she is like on the thought police squad.

So I did the next best thing. I started to actually laugh at them as they were discussing the matter. I kept looking over at them and generally giving them the clearest looks to make them come to some form of understanding that they should really reconsider their locale. I even went so far as to strike up a conversation with one of my regular customers about how ridiculous it was that they were talking about such things in such a public place. Must have worked because a few moments after that they left off and moved.:screwy:

edit : I VOTED BACON MMMMMMMMM

Yes, people really are stupid. Not all of them, but the majority. Most people don't have the ability to "step back" and evaluate situations... If you are able to, cherish it, and use it.

Yep! I agree

Oh man, people are really stupid at times. I work at petsmart and people will buy a chew toy for their dogs and then 2 days later will come back and try to return it. They will tell us that my dog chewed it(obviously stupid person) and that they want to get their money back. Ummmmmm...................it's a chew toy, like seriously WTF!!! They will say I didn't know that my dog would chew it up soo fast and I want my money back, well considering it cost .99 cents and you gave it to your pitbull puppy, it's sort of safe to assume that the toy will not last that long. We tell them no, and they will get all mad and want to call our corporate number.

We've had people return stain remover like for urine and etc. and after using the whole gallon of it they will come back with it empty and say It didn't work. Saying that it didn't clean up the stain, well okay, but why did you use the whole gallon. It doesn't say to use a whole gallon for 1 stain, then they will get mad because we don't return it and blah blah. It's ridiculous. This is a business we can't return chewed up toys because your dog for some reason decided to chew it up.

No offense to customers of Petsmart but it's not like were out to get you or not trust you when you return things. We just have had too many bad experiences to trust everyone. We have had people return canister filters with rocks in it. We had some lady one time return a stain remover product(1 gallon), she said it just didn't work. My store manager who happened to be at the register wanted to smell it(he's crazy, lol) so he did and it was suppose to smell an orange scent(it even said on the product that it smelled a heavy orangy scent and was suppose to be a orange color) well it smelled like nothing. We asked if she used any and she said no, well okay.........sure you didn't(we didn't say that, lol). We even poured some into a container it was clear as day, not orange at all. She was trying to return a product she used and put water back in. She just said IDK what your talking about and left, just walked out and didn't even take the product that she paid for(well obviously it was water, lol). So yes people can be very stupid.

your threads are a good example of your reasoning

This is so true...
Another thing that bugs me, pretty off topic, is just some of the assumptions people make. A perfect example of that would be Susan Boyle on Britain's got talent, or some of the others like her in past years. They go up and sing really well, and people are surprised, because they can sing well even though they're not great looking. Does that make sense? I guess only good-looking people can sing, huh? What's next, only tall people can be accountants? It just makes no sense, how some people can be so ignorant.
As for political correctness, I don't much care about it. I don't really mind when people use stereotypes and such, I've learned to just block it out. There are some cases where I think it's inappropriate, and you should try to not be judgmental or rude, but I don't think being politically correct is much of an issue.
