My Petsmart no longer has "trimacs"

Stripes has nothing to do with male/female. Females have a black blotch in the dorsal fin. Like in my avatar.

thats because petsmart never had trimacs, they had low grade flowerhorns that they sold as trimacs. Which is what I have, I still call him a trimac though because I like the name haha. Deep down I know its just some crappy halfbred flowerhorn.

I meant spots, not stripes. I think the males have more pink under their gills too. At least that was the difference between the ones at my petsmart.

No black spots in the dorsal indicates a male like mine in post #29 of this thread.

**EDIT** With Flowerhorns I don't know if that still the case or not.

Mine doesn't have the normal spots like what trimacs and FH's have just some black speckling on the head and body.
 
These are from 2 months ago when I first bought it. One thing I noticed is that the speckling kinda comes and goes. I don't know if the black gravel is the reasoning for it.

Sorry no new pics yet (don't own a camera). :(
