IMO u should keep the FM's take the platys,The Eel thing and the Con to the store(That is if u want to breed the FM's) u should get like $15 store Credit i think Buy a House of some sort, 10-20lbs Gravel (not so much of a mix) and Mabey a small School of Tiger Barbs, And 2 Emerald Cory Cats this would make your Tank would look 10x's Better. And Get a Sypon and do like a 10% water change 1 time a week and u would be on the road to having a asome tank. Now only get MAX 4 T-barbs. Then when ever you get the money for the other 29Gallon Go get a Male & Female Con and u can have your cons and your FMs. And they would be happy.

The 29g would be to small for 2 pairs of cons. I had 2 pair of cons in a 55g, worked out fine as long as both had fry. Also was fine if neither had fry, but if only one pair had fry the other pair was pushed to the top corners of the tank.

in a 29 u realy cant use a Fm or a Con has a Dither IMO because of the room Isue. Go with something FAST and Cheap (tiger barbs).Now u said 2 Pairs of Cons??? 4? i suppose that would make the Tank over crowded and they would Constinly Chase each other and nip fins (1day killing ea. other). Go with 1 Pair of Cons or 1 pair of Fms with small dithers like T-barbs a clean up Crew like Cory cats and then all u would need is Syphon,Magnet scruper,Cave or clay pot, and Gravel. That is like 30$ right there 4 a Realy Nice Tank setup and u are getting 50$ April U could do all this then and maybe get some live plants then get the fish a day or 2 later and u would have something like this
29Gallon Tank
Breeding Cons or Fm
4 T-Barbs
2 Cory cats
Clean Water Nice bottom of tank
happy/breeding Fish and within 3Weeks u will have approx. 30Fry atleast and you will Have Fry every 3 Weeks.
This is all you Would need then just save up for a new 29Gallon Tank. To have that setup u could do it 50$ easy then - the Store credit of atleast 15$ and u will only spend like 35$
9 times out of 10, Convicts will take out Firemouths. Just keep the pair of Firemouths in one 29 and when you get the other 29, keep one pair of Convicts .
