You can also wait two months before buying a normal Convict, which I think everyone would agree is the better option.
 
FM have Weak Jaws Compared to Cons.My bro Has a 1 3/4" FM and a 1" con when the con laid eggs the the Con Deffended the Eggs against the Fm the Fm witch is almost 2x its size got the $hit beat out of it(Niped fins) Fms are all talk no show in a sence. Why do you ask for help when you dont want to listen? Also you should just do research it wouldnt take much to find out that a Con can take out a Fm.
 
hmmmm ok. so future planing here.. if i didnt do cons in the 29 could i do this then, 1 male con 1 male salvini 1 male FM and thats all cept a few dithers??
 
no i mean get all of the ones for my future 29 all toghter at the LFS in 2 months ya im gonna breed my FMs but im gona get 1 FM 1 salvini 1 con fromm the LFS in 2 months
 
It wouldn't work, Salvini are just too aggressive, and a 29 would barely be big enough (in my opinion) for a Female, let alone a Male, by itself.

I think your best bet is to have your two 29 Gallon tanks, one with a breeding pair of Convicts (Standard black ones in my opinion), and the other with your Firemouth pair if they ever end up breeding. Remember a lot of people also think that Firemouths won't fit in a 29 for life so you may even need to alter that plan.

For now I'd say a Salvini is out of the question, you would need a 42 Gallon (3x15x18) for one at least, in my opinion.
 
now that got me thinking...... a 29 is 3 foot, right? or is it 2 foot? well anyways if there 3 foot then i may beable to get the 42 gallon :nilly::nilly:
