Sadly this tank has come to it's end.

All the fish and plants have been taken to The Wet Spot. Tank, stand, and equipment have been sold. Just a week and half till out of my apartment.

So I'll be out of the fish hobby for about two years. First six months to a year I'll just be doing the tourist thing and traveling around the Philippines. After all the newness wears off I'll find a place to settle down and restart a new adventure is fish keeping. Maybe some Snakeheads since they are legal there 🤔
Sad to hear that but know you're heart was moving to the Philippines.
I know you will still chime in. Also know you will get a bird and probably a snakehead 😆

Cool-it’s actually happening now. When do you head off?
I haven’t been to the Philippines but have been to other south East Asian countries, you should have a good time. Cheap and tasty food, friendly people, a simpler lifestyle and nice beaches and scenery.
The downside is the constant noise, overcrowding and pollution but it’s a small price to pay for the freedom you get. Probably check the rules on your medicinal weed too as they are very harsh with drugs in the Philippines.
Definitely keep us informed and updated with your adventures as your new chapter begins

I most definitely will keep some sort of journal in the off topic section.
Been doing a lot of research of the different customs and cultural differences along with laws. So I believe I am prepared as much as can be till I actually get there.
The plan ahead:

The move out in a week something days.
Everything is accounted for as in selling or giving away furniture, dishes etc.

I will spend six months on my friends couch. To pay off a couple debts, get my car sold (I already have a guy who wants it, selling it to him next month after the move out). With proceeds from the car will get my plane ticket. A couple things I need to get like a dual sim phone, need to keep my American line and will need a Philippines number. Some hot weather clothes since I am from the PNW, an area not know for heat... Then the rest will be savings, to get a car or motorcycle when I arrive.
First six months to a year will be the tourist thing seeing all the natural beauty. Then settle down somewhere around Cebu city. Not the city proper but like 15 to 20 minutes away so still relatively near an American counsalate.

Sounds like a plan, its pretty cool to be starting a whole new life on the other side of the world, are you excited or nervous or both?
2 things that i would advise based on a few months travelling around Vietnam. Buy your warm weather clothes when you get there as it will be much cheaper , a trip to a market on your first day and you will be fully dressed and if you want a motorbike make friends with a local and get them to buy it on your behalf as it will be cheaper too. Its an unfortunate fact that most locals will assume you will have lots of cash and try to squeeze you a bit, its just part of life in that part of the world but even if they are ripping you off it will still be crazy cheap compared to the western world.

When i was in Saigon i used to buy a pack of cigarettes and a vietnamese iced coffee (see if you can get them in the Philippines, so so good) from an old guy running a street stall near my hotel first thing every morning. Its cost me $3USD where a pack of smokes here was $35AUD at the time and a coffee around $5.00. On my last day he gave them to me for free and said he had been charging me double the whole time and felt bad! I gave him around $12AUD in coins i had in my wallet and he was very happy. Its a strange vibe to know you are being slightly shafted but still so far ahead of what you would be paying at home especially when they are so nice at the same time.
