Whereabouts in MN are you? If you are near Forest Lake, there is a petstore there that will probably buy it from you. If you are near Minneapolis, a place called Aquatropics or A World of Fish will definitely buy it.

thats unnecessary. He's clearly "handling" it by coming here and seeking the advice of experienced hobbyists. I'd rather someone do that than rely on the rather abusive "conventional wisdom" used by most piranha keepers.

Aren't you the guy with the piranha fight club tank? That seems pretty N00Bish to me, and a waste of cool fish.

just keep asking your mum for a bigger tank, soon she will see that you are unhappy with a small tank, you could also show her some photos and videos of bigger tanks, she will come round eventually

first of all i applaud you for doing research on the fish after you brought it home (next time research before you buy but this wont help your situation now)

second NEVER trust anyone in a pet store...... ever even at good ones assume there wrong unless you know for a fact their right

third what i would do is ask for a tank for christmas (40 gallon breeder would be fine for the rest of the piranhas life)

the breeder size is wider than the standard 40 gallon but still holds the same amount of water this extra width is what will allow the fish to turn around (red bellies max out at 12")

buy a few good books on piranhas at your fish store and show your mom that the guy there was wrong and you need a bigger tank
