Ok I have had them in the new 75 gallon for over a month and it looks like they haven't grown at all!! I think they got stunted while they were in the 35g due to my cats breaking the 55g they were in. :nilly: I got them around chistmas time last year, I know piranhas are supposed to grow about an inch a month in their first 6 months and like an inch a year after that, could it be that they couldn't grow durring their first 6 months so now they are stuck growing an inch a year? I feel like a terrible fish mommy but i couldn't do anything else their bigger tank broke and the 35 was the only thing i could put them in. What can I do to help them grow more? I have been feeding them earthworms every other day with their daily pellets (they get fed in the morning and night).

Well chances are is that they are indeed growing. You just can't see it. If they grew up in a 35 gallon, then you were probably able to see there growth better because every inch they grew they filled out the tank more. Now that you have them in a much bigger tank, the growth is probably less noticeable.

I just had the same thing happen to me last night with my oscar and jag. As i watched them grow since babies they progressively got bigger every month. And lately they had seemed to stop growing and they seemed the same size as 6 months ago. But upon measuring them they in fact did grow a lot. I just couldn't tell.

Wait, how big are they? if you got them last christmas, i'd only expect them to be between 5 to 7 inches at this point.

they're about 5 inches one is a little more than 4. Ok phew I have been doing nothing but worrying that i stunted my fishies but thanks now im not so worried :D

sounds like they're on the normal pace. pretty soon you won't need to feed them that often and they're getting past the cannabil stage. Should be safe sailing from here on out

I agree ^^^ they're pretty slow growing. Varied diet is key as well.

They get pellets for breakfast every day and they get a mix of pellets, catfish, talapia, crayfish, and earthworms at dinner

It sounds like they have it made lol. And I was worrying about the same thing with my fish, cuz I bought them from my store and they were in 15gallon tanks and now I have them in a 46g and they look the same size as the day I brought them home, but sure enough they grew. I would recommened a ruler or something, you'd be suprised.
