My Piranhas. Evolutive thread

Hi,

Thanks for your posts.
Merci Souzie ; tu parles français?

I don't use tongs for aquascaping. Only my hands! Nattereri aren't aggressive. As soon as I put my hand in the water, they hide behind the root...
Yes, the teeth of the big rhombeus are impressive and very sharp!

New pics of the day

1/ A new pic of the nattereri :

6/ Another pic of the 16" rhombeus :

9/ Serrasalmus rhombeus 7,5" sold as "diamond". An idea for a more precise identification because "diamond" is only a commercial name which is used for very very different rhombeus ...

Best regards.

Bye.

Wow. You definitely have quite the collection. I love the red belly shoal; great aquascaping!

Do you have a favorite tank/species? I know its probably difficult to choose, it's probably like asking which of your children do you like the most lol.

Howdy,

Thank you Souzie. You're very tolerant. :)
@kevbc03 : Thanks for the compliment. My two goals are to compare the bevahiour of each species and to try reproduction (I have regular layings with the nattereri and will try with Pygopristis denticulata this summer and with P. cariba in 6-8 months). I spend a large part of my spare time to observe the fishes. Aesthetically speaking, my favorite species into Serrasalmus genus are rhombeus and geryi ; in Pygocentrus genus, cariba. But I like the behaviour of my denticulata and nattereri shoals.

Bye.

Don't you think that it could be a sanchezi?

It looks very similar to my sanchezi, unfortunately I can't tell what the scutes look like from the picture provided.

Beautiful collection. Your English is good. I can easily understand you.

Is their any type of piranha that you'd love to have that you haven't come upon yet?

Howdy,

Yes, I'm looking for three species :
- Pristobrycon eigenmanni. One of most beautiful and very interesting to observe.
- Serrasalmus manueli. But I shall soon have 2. :headbang2
- Pygocentrus piraya.

But it will be hard to find them a place!!
