My Piranhas: Then and Now

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks good - Thanx! Is it just me or do the p's seem way more outgoing as juvi's and more defensive as adults - my experience has been the opposite.

Howdy,

Thanks for the stats

All FX5's are filled with Bio Balls. This is the result of high ammonia levels in tank after feeding.

Actually, you'd be better off getting some sintered glass media such as EhFi Substrat instead of bioballs. Seriously. Orders of magnitude more surface area for beneficial bacteria, thus better in preventing ammonia peaks. My 2262 is packed with that and I have no issues with my ammonia or nitrites. Just nitrates. Despite weekly water changes my /\/\onsters pumped out peaks of 200 ppm nitrates. Now I have a drip system to take care of that... Just a thought.

Harleyk,

is the drip on your 220g or 75g? how did you have it setup?
I'd love to have a drip system for my two 180gs but I don't have a water source in the basement unless I tap through one of the pipes and I'd rather not to do that.

they look great and useful for me as I bought 10 1-2 inch red belly piranha for my tank on december 23rd

They are grwing already but I am looking forward to them getting to a size more like yours

cheers

they grow really quick at that size, about an inch per month, so won't be long until they hit 6in then the growth slow down
