I have made a plan and would like to get as much feedback as possible.

Right now I've got my 120g stocked with
3 O's - 7inch, and the other two are about 3-4inches.
2 Jd's - 3-4 inches
2 Jewels (which are going away soon most likely) 2 inches

So all the fish are still quite small, minus one of my O's. The agression in the tank is pretty limited to be honest. The biggest O can be a bit of a bruiser and I am considering giving him away - but I'm not sure yet.

My plan is in a years time to get a 233g tank (180x70x70) Possible that it will be bigger but this is my plan so far and I'm speaking to a few LFS's that do custom builds about price offers etc. Money is being saved up now and should be ready in a years time (roughly - possibly sooner if business picks up)

In the mean time I would like to add to my stock one Jag and one or two carpinites both sized at about the 1-2inch mark.

Not sure if I should keep them in the big tank right away or grow them out for a few months first in my 14g w/ 2 convicts.

I figured within in a years time they will all be at a good size and be ready to move out of my 120 into the 233.

Is this realistic?

You can only try. Personally, I think a year is pushing it considerably. The jag will have some size on him by then assuming it is male and will be 50/50 on accepting tank mates. The O's will definately be adult size and will keep you on your toes with w/c's.
If you get rid of the large O, you will still be looking at 2 x O's, 2 x JD's, 1 or 2 carpinite + a jag in a 120. May work for 6mths but after that I really think you will be pushing your luck taking into consideration how fast O's and jags grow.

Does that mean u will be Getting rid of ur 120?? If not u could split up the agression within the 2 tanks when u get the big one..:headbang2

^ not a chance of keeping the 120 - bf has made it very clear if I get the bigger one then this one goes ...

I agree with GT the problem may lie with the Jag, the texas should be OK just make sure they aren't small enough to be eaten by a hungry Oscar. You could try the Jag but have a plan ready if he doesn't get along with the others, you never know you may get a gentle Jag that is fine but as they say every fish is different.

Ok... so would make more sense then to hold off on the jag for the time being - perhaps go into that in 6-7 months time when the new tank becomes more clear.

There is a small grow out for the tex for the first few weeks/months till they get slightly bigger so they don't become a snack.

i agree, hold off on the jag. IME they grow really quickly and in a 120G (i'm assuming thats a 4x2x2?) it will become very overcrowded very quickly. maybe introduce all your current fish into your big tank once you get it then add a jag that is already around 6" or so

Cuban B - Thanks for the advice...

How would it all work out if I get rid of the O's and kept the rest of my stock?

I have a Jag and an Oscar, in different tanks, and the Jag can be a right handful, he once picked up a medium sized flower pot in his mouth and threw it, my Oscar on the other hand is fairly docile and has never attacked another fish in his life. However all fish, Jags especially have unique personalities. If you did add a Jag it may turn out to be an angel, its a big risk though considering how quickly it would begin to kill your tank mates if it did turn out to be aggressive.

IF you had to choose between the jag and the tex what would any of you go for?
