my plecos are big fans of mexican squash, i guess it's just a touch sweeter than zucchini?
either way, i float a couple disks of squash, or drop a handful of frozen peas into the tank about once a week.. the only time i take veggies out is if there is still some floating the next week when i put new stuff in. this is RARE.. plecos are pigs.
i'm gonna guess it's probably been a couple months since the last time i remembered to drop algae wafers in.. they just aren't that important.
goes back to that control of ingredients and what they are designed to eat.. no fish is designed to eat commercially prepared overcooked mystery veggies, or mystery mush..
i don't know a single fish that ever made algae disks to eat in the wild, or picked them off a wild algae disk bush.
