My pleco keeps dying?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Common plecos are pretty hardy for the most part... what else do you have in your tank? what size is the tank your pleco is in? What type of filtration are you running? and how often do you do water changes?

If you give us some basic info, maybe some one here will be able to pin point where the problem is for you?

in my tank theres 2 bichirs and a gar and an arowana. filtration is overhead filter and sump filter. and yes there are driftwood in the tank

Thats a good stock of fish, what is the tank size they are in? And are you able to test the water quality and give us the readings? It'll give us a better understanding of what could be the culprit.

i cant exactly test out the water quality but i would say it is quite good since so far non of my fishes died due to poor water quality. all of them are in a 5x2x2 ft tank

i would often put in some feeder into the tank for my fishes and the pleco would help to eat the dead fish also, so i rarely feed it unless there are no dead fishes in the tank
