It started off as a white-ish spot behind his eye, almost as if some acid had taken the first layer of his skin off. Then underneath his gill plate on his underside, a hole began to grow. I began medicating him with Pimafix and Melafix.

I asked on here in the pleco section, and they claimed it was a heater burn gone bad. I have never seen it, so I assumed they were correct. Now I am thinking it is something else, mainly because my pleco is never near the heater and the wounds are in places where it would be difficult for him to get burned.

Now I believe that it is spreading to his belly, and the hole is worse. I also think that he is getting a little bloated, even though he is eating good I have never seen him as fat as this.

I have some old pictures, it is pretty difficult to get them now since he just likes to sit on leaves of plants (did that before, too).

Any help would be appreciated!

are you doing water changes?
you could quarintine him and threat him there, doing lots of water changes and keep using the meds.

Pima and melafix are tea-tree based medications and only have a 24 hour effective range, so indeed you can do water changes in-between daily doses...The course of treatment is seven days, but the doses are daily.......I would do 50% daily water changes inbetween doses.... I dont know what size tank you have but the common sailfin has a huge bio-load.........D

Okie-doke, Good luck to you and your Plec.....If the Pima/mela dosent help a round of general cure may not hurt........
