My Plecos

When plecos fight, they really fish not like other fishes. They wrestle, bites, slaps, scratches, throw elbows, and kicks and mutter bad words to each other.

Amazing Plecos! I never knew there were so many varieties. I had one that got about 10 inches long, but he died. Very inspiring pictures!

Hehe, It may seem that rotary was joking, but he's not that far off. The wrestle, biting, slapping, scratching do happen. Throwing elbows is actually one of their strongest attacks. They would do a side swipe with their pectoral fins, using them almost as swords. Mutter bad words, ha! this is even more impressive, especially with spiky plecos. If your filter is not too loud, you'll hear them fighting. You can either hear constant rubbing sounds from them wrestling eachother, or occasional sharp sounds when they do their elbowing with their pectoral fins.

That's why if you don't have enough to spread out the aggression attention, and they got a chance to build territory, you'll need caves and hiding spaces for them to hide and rest. In worse case scenarios, they DO fight to the death. But it's usually just scratches or scrapes. Occasionally broken pectoral fins that usually grows back.

uhh, tht's bad. and the worst thing is tht they can even die. -_- huhuh, maybe i just keep two or three. but, the last time i had them, they nver fought or anything. i think it was about 4 of them and the same species. tht's why i nver heard about them to even fight.

Its sure look scary when they use their pectoral fin in a fight..my plecos hurting my flowerhorn using those 'sword', making deep scratch rite from belly to near tail..thts injury caused my fh didnt ate for 4 days..but now already healed..but i wonder if those sword stab into my fh eyes..sure a fatal wound..:(

The Gold Nugget is thew L081 bc of the large miss shaped spots. The L018 has perfect spots that are small, and the L177 has big spots, but the spots are perfect.
