24 hour update,

No leaks so I think I can worry less. Filter going on top today if one of my boys is home.

Filter on and running. The 2 1.5" returns handle the flow just fine, but will by running the 2 1" also. Noisy as all get out without the media. Not sure I am happy with the spray bar. Wonder how much flow I am losing because of it.

Will pics;

The one we have seen before in different fashions...

Now with water in it;

The drain chugging away;

I just love all the drive by rubber necking.

48 Hours running no leaks.

Next update will be set up and cycling in it's final resting place next week.

(All but the Driftwood)

Then it is time to get going on the hood.

What happened?

Also if I may suggest... Finish everything before you start to do ANYTHING involving fish...

Don't like how it is plumbed. I have the filter intake bulkheads on the bottom, It is a pain to put on the filter, and when pvc cement is added to all plumbing it is never coming off unless I use a saw. So I am rebuilding the filter and the intake bulkheads will be on the front with a threaded union for removal. Also I am going to epoxy it rather than the Drylok. No huge deal, just going to turn this one into a planter. :ROFL:

Other than that all is great, Nearing 1 week and still no leaks, Getting ready to drain for final finishing, but I want to get the sand first so I can use the water to rinse it and not waste 240 gallons.

Hey man looking good. Congrats on the no leaks. I got mine all sealed up been holding water for a week now. One last drain before final fill, stone, and landscaping. Sadly the rest of the basement still needs lots of attention.

Thanks,

I miss having a basement. None here in Vegas. The house in PA I lived in has a perfect :drool: basement for an aquariust

Draining this weekend for final finish work, painting then in the house it goes. Gotta go get my 300#s of sand and a batch of river rock from a landscaping place. Hope to get my driftwood soon also.

More to come and good to hear that you also are getting close to the finish line.

When I added my driftwood to my tank I attached pieces of plexiglass/acrylic to the bottom of the driftwood with stainless steel screws. These pieces of acrylic were as large as I could get them. When I put the driftwood in the tank, I covered the acrylic with the sand and then filled the tank. No floating driftwood! Just a thought! Great build! Are you going to keep the spray bars or go with a drip plate design?
