My polypterus ornatipinnis breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
After a few years away from this forum, i'm back

Still have my group and they are still breeding, my group is now 3 males and 7 females (and 1 endli). In an other tank i have newly hatched frys and about 10 frys that eat artemia and other small live water animals.

You gave me hope. I have a mature male and female, but have not seem them mate. A few occassion, i see eggs in the tank but the female hunts for them to eat.

Is there a definite pair or they breed with any other ornate in the tank? I may need to add more to my pair, but having a hard time finding anymor ornates.

On a positive note, my senegals are doing well and i found two babies surviving in the tank.

Here are a short video of the spawning:

A tank full of ornates is just impressive...horny ornates is like the cherry ontop. Please keep updating this thread.

Mine also eat the eggs. All in the tank, so we save a few eggs.

Before they spawned all at the same time, no pairs. But last time they where in pairs. The two biggest females with the two biggest males.
