My Polypterus tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh. a planted would be much more intresting . to me, it's fun to watch them hide btween the plants. lol and yeah, i would do a fake planted tank if i have enough fake ones. plus their only use it to hide and not like their going to eat it . hahah but for now im on live plants. more hiding places make them build their territories which could lead them fighting each other. just so u know. :)

Awesome, I think I am going to push for a planted tank. I just don't want to spend too much on lighting for them. It will also be beneficial the african leaf fish that I plan on adding with them. I have a lot of work ahead of me, thinking of building a new stand because I don't think I can trust the one it came with. Can't wait to start working towards completing my first monster tank :)

I will, I plan on posting pictures of my progression once I get started with that.
I have never tried hand feeding. At the moment I cut massivore pellets and nls thera a pellets with a razor blade and throw them in the tank. Have you had any luck? Also what would you hand feed them?

ok, i nver tried it either. mine wont eat pellets, i feed my endli earthworms. but if i do handfeed it, i'll probably feed its favorite, earthworms, and also nightcrawlers. the most easiest food tht i can provide for him. :)
but this morning, this happened

the tilapia fry wasnt suppose to be a feeder, but yeah, im glad of him . xD

ya worms sounds like it would be easiest to hand feed. May also be a good way to introduce hand feeding to your poly then maybe try shrimp or something (who knows). hahaha nice catch! did you see him catch it? I plan on breading guppies soon cause I want to set up a tank for an amazon leaf fish. I wonder what will happen when i toss some in my poly tank

They will devour every guppy , personally I only feed live earth worms after a heavy rain storm, and my bicher go nuts. :)

yeah, probably. i tried ghost shrimp once, and he likes it. but am not giving him again until he gets bigger, he's still small now, and the spikes on the shrimp especially in the head area could hurt him. i wouldnt risk it.
lol, i didnt see it. damn. hahah i just finished feeding worms at tht time, i left his tank then i came back a few minutes later, the fry is already struggling in his mouth. fyi, i do have some guppies in his tank, but i nver see him catching it or trying to. probably because the guppies likes to swim on the top area of the tank, they rarely come to the bottom. amazon leaf fish? nve seen one before, but i googled and it looks like a mutated datnoid. lol are they gentle fish? make sure tht it's not too small for the bichirs to eat it.
