my black sen (Blind not melanistic) , he is black because he thinks everything is dark and tries to mimic what he sees (he thinks), sen was born blind (if you look closely you can see he has no eyes).

with platinum sen in the picture.

could not find it, but i have seen a true melanistic bichir, even its under belly was dark.
 
Yes, there is Melanistic, and like Gerryjuns blind Bichir, I posted a pic of my old black (blind) Congicus before too.
But the fish here in question is just a darkish Senegal!

@Gerryjun, I think your senegalus most likely had it's eyes ripped from the sockets as a juvi by another fish it was probably kept with.

I have seen a group of baby Endlis that were born with no eyes in a farm here in Japan, they had little to no sockets at all!

its possible that his eyes got ripped off but probably not by other sens, and would have been so lucky to have both eyes ripped off instead or just one eye, because if that were to be the case i would have had a Sen Pirate instead of black blind sen lol
