My Polys, African Knife and guests... To dinner!

Nice. I really wish my poly/brown knife stocking had worked; those knifes are so neat.
 
Well they got along great at first; the knife was about an inch smaller than the poly. Then I got a leopard ctenopoma and upgraded to a 55g. There were tons of hiding places and that jerk cteno just kept seeking out the knife to harass him. It got the bichir all worked up and one day he attacked the knife. I got him out and gave him to my lfs before he was killed. My local zoo has a tank with 5 8 inch brown knives and it makes me so jealous.
 
Oh! I'm desperately looking for Ctenopoma:hearts: ... But I do not want trouble between it and old inhabitants.
In my tank, the knife is insistently chased by molly ... It seems that there is something hypnotic in the way it swim:drool:!
About zoos, aquariums section of my city zoo is like a fishmonger:(.
 
I've never heard of others having that problem so mine might have been a freak occurrence. My zoo has an incredible fish collection. A huge shoal of 3 inch congo tetras (another failed species in my tank), a large puffer, beautiful rays, and this massive pond with a tunnel under it. The pond is full of large cats (plecos, an rtc, a huge armored one who's name escapes me), pacus, it's just a dream. :D
 
I wonder why yours was being so harassed. I have mine with 6 bichirs, 2 hujeta gars, 3 payara's and an aba aba knife and so far I've had no problems at all and it's been around 3 months now.

I'm not sure, like I said there were plenty of hiding spots and everyone was pretty equal in size. I've found that my ctenos aren't super aggressive but can be real jerks lol. I think I just threw the balance off when I added him.
