copper works, but you need to dose correctly(buy a test kit to see if your copper is at the right levels). It is also good to change water + remove all carbon from your filters.
In fact, for some fish like Loaches, copper is safer than other medicines.
Also, if you use heat and salt, make sure it is ich you are dealing with and not velvet. Heat and salt won't do a thing for that.
