thats a good question
help my jack dempsey is getting some red bumps all around his tail he cant even swim WHATS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i feel like ***** for neglecting him :cry: how can i help him get better!!!!!!!!!!!
 
What are your water parameters? Doing a series of water changes usually helps. How have you been neglecting your fish?
 
I hate to say it, most people always disagree with me, but everytime i see my fish sick, I never put any medication in! I've always just done 10%-20% water change a day and it usually cures itself! but most people might go for medication or even Melafix!
 
depending on how bad it is, you could just do water changes on a daily bsis, 20% a day until it cures, or if your really worried, aquarium salt and melafix wont hurt.
 
Just remember to leave an air stone on all the time if you are going to use melafix.
Can't remember for the life of me the actual reason for it but the melafix affects the waters ability to absorb oxygen or something.... I'll dig about and find a page on it if no one can give the reasons for me..

Personally for me though, before all else up the temp to 30c and add salt. 50% w/c every or every other day and add the salt for the amount of water changed each time.

dude i dont even know anything i just get fish and throw them in my tank and change their water when it gets crazy dirty like me im mexican:grinno:. just messin" as for the neglecting part i play gears of war instead of changing their water:cry:
 
get yourself a test kit or go to the LFS and grt the water tested, knowing the parameters will play a big role in determining what is wrong with your fish and how to fix it.

LOL sorry this isn't suppose to be funny. but what you said was really funny. already neglecting the fish and gears of war 2 aint even out yet!!! oh boy....lol
