my project?

Hey, you have to really consider the thickness of your glass. When you state 6'-6" tall, you are stating the tank + stand height, or just the tank height? You really need to be clear on this.

GOOD LUCK!

yes the tank itself is going to be 6'6 high. there is a very complicated formula for determining the thickness of the glass and it comes out to be just under 2.5in. i am probably going to use toughened glass for the project. it costs a lot more because it has to be cut to spec, then sent out, but it will ensure i wont lose my home. flood insurance is hard enough to come by in Florida as it is

i'm thinking acrylic may be a better choice because i found out last night toughened glass is not reliable and there have been reports of very messy problems as toughened glass doesn't give the long fairly straight crack like glass, it shatters like tempered glass. does anyone have any personal insight/ experience with acrylic or toughened glass?

making it only 3' wide will limit your options as far as fish go. i would make it 4' but that might just be me. :nilly:

but like i said theres a lot more monsters than can go in a 4' wide tank than can go in a 3' wide tank. :nilly:
