I've kept different kinds of puffers before... all of them were great. It's a pity about their compatability issues, but even a species tank is worthwhile.

PS: have you moved those GSPs to brackish?

I also have kept a few different species of puffers, and by the looks of things those GSP are still quite young which is why they could be in Freshwater (although still no recommended by any means)... but as they grow they will eventually need very high end brackish almost full marine for you to keep them alive...

Also your tank looks pretty bare, so i'd suggest that you get some decor in their ASAP, since puffers are known to get bored very easily in a bare tank, not to mention aggression gets a lot worst when they don't have anything to break their line of sight...

I have not moved them to brackish.. How do I know when to move them??
They still look fine in freshwater!!:)

Keeping BW species in FW for a year, stating they are "fine" is nothing in the scope of a fish's life, since they should live into their teens, which they certainly won't in FW. Forcing any fish to live in conditions other than what is best for them will compromise their immune system, causing disease & early death. They should be in BW now & moved into high-end BW/SW as adults.

i love puffers so much i always have problems with them and idk know how example i had a sw porcupine puffer in a 75 gallon tank with a dragonwrasse nothing else in the tank and they both went missing bodies in all, never found the bodies and there were no crabs to eat the remans so idk what happened

Had a FW dwarf puffer for several months. Very cute and easy fish. Had a brain fart and tried to feed it to my first Oscar when I was downsizing. The O spit it out and looked at me funny, and I was like 'Oh, yeah! Tetra-poison, huh buddy?!'. I put the puffer back in his tank to figure out what to do with him and he vanished. He probably died from the Oscar incident and decomposed into the plantwork before I could find any parts of him. Ah, the days of n00bity.

The Oscar was fine, though. :D
