My puffers are fat

I know that and yes its a 5g i saved him from a .5 gallon tank and have a 40 gallon coming in and i put some decor in there yesterday as you can see in my avatar and i feed him many things just his main course is bloodworms i feed him snails ,shrimp tails,cockles,etc
 
But once i get my 40g i want to put something else in there but i really don't know what, i was thinking some sort of cichlid but i don't know wether its a very good idea. maybe an electric yellow lab
 
I think your puffer will kill it. Most puffers are best kept alone.
 
So, when are you upgrading him? Is he in BW or FW?
 
I read an article once that said you can keep a fish with your puffer as long as it is just as aggresive seeing as my puffer is pretty aggresive and i use to have a flowerhorn is there anything i can keep with it at all? like i was thinking green terror but then that would just end up in a puffer death which isn't very good but is there anything you keep with yours puffys? and suggestions?
 
He is in fw and its coming in a few weeks its a custom design and there still making it but i already ordered and payed for everything.
 
Aggressive & killer ripping teeth are 2 different things. Would you keep a Green terror with a pirahana?
 
40 gallon? I would house them alone.
