lol sorry i got 2 rbp i just got them they are about 6 inches big and they run when ever i get close to the tank and hit alot of stuff and i put feeder fish in the tank and they are scared of them like i had a gold fish bite the rbp but in the morning when i go to work it's gone lol they will never eat in front of me only in the dark i seen alot of videos of them tearing up stuff with the lights on is there some thing i can do to get them to eat in front of me? sorry to sound like a nubie... first post....

not much you can do i wanted to get a couple till i heard about stuff like this. you could starve them then feed them but thats just mean do you feed them live food often?

That's just them....

Give them time and they'll settle down a bit

you and the poster need to study fish before you buy them.

You just got the fish, they dont know wtf is going on. Give them a couple weeks To months. and they will be fine, Before I moved to florida, I had 3 Rbp's I bought them and didn't understand why they always hide and dont eat infront of me. So one day I turned all the lights off in the tank, and put a feeder fish in, I sat on my chair for 2 hours before they came out and ate infront of me. Every day sence they would get more and more used to me watching them, and everytime i starved them ( didn't feed for 3 days ) they would swim at the glass and try and get me to feed them. ( or eat me, )

Just give them time, they will come out of their shell.

my p's are the same way man, i feel ur pain. wuts ur setup like? add more plants or hiding spots they will warm up if they feel secure

If you wanted to see them just "tear stuff up", then you got the wrong fish. They are great fish to keep, but you have to give them time to settle in. I have three in a 75 gallon tank with no gravel and the eat any and everthing I put in. I only feed mine once or twice a week. Good luck!:headbang2

I moved to florida, so I gave them to a relative.

I had lots of driftwood and live plants, Lots of coverage and spots for them to hide.

I think thats just how fish are at first, it took my Buttikoferi about three weeks to stop hiding when i came in the room, now he tries to bite me, he's a 4" atm.
