So I come home and sit in front of tank to let the stress wash away. I was way too excited to see my rainbow cichlids are guarding eggs! And then the stress set back in lol. I need help! These guys have bred three times before but I was unable to rear the fry. Please, I need the "Rearing Fry for Dummies" instruction from you all with experience.

I would let the parents raise their fry to about 3/4". Just make sure you get fry food Or crush ur own flakes real fine for the fry to eat once they are free swimming. So less of a water change then normal twice a week make sure the water paramerers stay the same also till the fry get larger and become more hardy.

Brace yourself for noob questions lol. Do the power heads create to much of a current? Should the other fish be removed?

Ive never had experience with rainbow cichlids. But i did raise some con fry. I let them stay with the parents for 3 weeks. They were in a 40 g community. The reason i separated the fry was because it looked like the parents were losing interest in them, specially the male.

I say leave them there for 2-3 weeks after free swimming and take them out after.

It might depending how strong it is. Make sure u have prefilters over anything the fry could get sucked into . I used aqua clear sponges as a prefilter on my aquaclear filters .i cut a ac 110 filter to the size I need it make a hole to slide the in take of the filter into. I also put an air stone near the eggs if the female isnt fanning them with her side fins.

If u have a catfish or a pleco then remove caise both will eat eggs. The catfish will pick off the fry at night.

if you wana raise fry you need to isolate them from fish that will eat them

Okay temporary panic mode here..... my power heads are for undergravel filtration, but still strong. These cichlids are housed in a 125 gal with serpaes, corys, a bulldog plec and a couple of clown loaches. I looked recently and there were no eggs. I didn't see any wrigglers. Idk if they're in the substrate with yolk attached or if they were eaten. I have really been wanting another batch but its been forever since they bred, I really didn't think they would any more.
