My rainbow ciclids are running my tank!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay temporary panic mode here..... my power heads are for undergravel filtration, but still strong. These cichlids are housed in a 125 gal with serpaes, corys, a bulldog plec and a couple of clown loaches. I looked recently and there were no eggs. I didn't see any wrigglers. Idk if they're in the substrate with yolk attached or if they were eaten. I have really been wanting another batch but its been forever since they bred, I really didn't think they would any more.

With that stock they were most likely eaten. But just looking for fry the parents might have moved them

If the parents are still guarding a spot then the fry are probably hidden around that area. If they're swimming around the tank and don't act aggressive towards tank mates then the fry are probably gone.

It sounds to me like the eggs were picked off by someone in the tank, same thing happend to my green severum eggs last night. if they do it once they'll probably do it again.. wait 2 weeks and you may find more! good luck

Thank you all. I believe they were indeed picked off. Bummer. I am hoping they breed again shortly!

no problem. maybe you should put em in thier own tank if you really want to breed em. log everything you do also it helps alot with future spawns
