My Rainbow Crab by the name Houdini!

My mom has just corrected me on the size of the BIG fella. His Shell was the size of a mans hand, if not BIGGER! You wouldn't of wanted him down yer trousers, and that's for certain!!!!

Hi Dawn,

This weekend we went out to the beach at South Padre Island and we found a What is called a rainbow crab. It is huge! It is bigger than my hand (haven't touch it though) It is very violent, it ate smaller rainbow crabs we placed in the tupperware bowl we brought it home in. My question is... now what? I read you can feed it carrots, and peanut butter is that true? I bought a small tank and a bowl for water... and they told me to give it hermit food... Can you help me with this crab and how and what to feed it and really what to do?

i just had to read this
i havew a uncle named houdini and had a hermit crabed named after him(rip)
the hermit crab escaped one day and i found him outside it was about 35 outside so he probably frose to death

Hi, I had this guy for about 8-9 years and he lived in a fish tank with a heater and pump. (which by the way, he blew up causing the water to turn black!) Then, as he grew up (he was the size of a small saucer) he went walk abouts twice but it seemed to come back to get water. I miss the crab, but I know my brother don't, coz they had to feed it for me. My one bro said it looked like a spider, (and he HATES them!!!!!!) But sadly he's in Crabby heaven, has anyone else owned a monster like him?

I had one of those crabs to. Mine didnt get that big but did get pretty big. Unfortunately he just died recently. They are very cool to have.
