"Death curl" usually happens around the entire outer edge of the disc almost like it is paralyzed.
If your ray is eating and not curling the disc constantly then it is probably fine.
Any tankmates that may be picking on it?

His stomach area toward the back looks extremely thin. If he's eating well then maybe some internal parasites are at play. What is he "pigging out" on?
