Hey all! I've been lurking more than posting lately, but I finally took some videos this morning of my ray pond - I had a lot of help from guys on MFK earlier in the summer on questions about filtration options for an open pond, and I just thought I'd share my success! My Hystrix are growing quickly; both have grown 2.5+ inches since I've gotten them this spring (after they fattened up....both came in pretty thin).

The lighter one is a female (I think her pattern/color is incredible!), and the darker one is a male. Both came in around 4", and are WC. I'd like to add another male and 2 more females eventually...if I can keep successfully avoiding Vamptrev's Leos that is! :grinno: It's getting harder to resist though....there's a lot of floor room in here for just two little rays, and I still have a second pond to setup!

They are looking good ! What size pond is that ?

300 gallons....it's a Rubbermaid stock type tank. I just accessorized it a little on the outside so it didn't look like such an eyesore!

The pattern on your female is beautiful! Pics when it's full grown!

the female is lovely, reminds me alot of one i used to have (gutted that i dont have her anymore) you should keep hold of her and try find a nicer male for her ;)

good luck with them :)

Yargnits, thanks! That's exactly what I plan to do! I had to purchase these two as a pair, otherwise I would have kept looking for a nicer pattered male. I'm having a hard time finding one that I like now - I need to get to know more Hystrix breeders! What happened to yours?

I'm really looking forward to (hopefully!) breeding the female in the future. Crossing my fingers for some pups that will look just like her! Her pattern and color has stayed the same so far since I've gotten her...no change other than size. I hope it stays that way as she matures!
