My ray pond and hystrix pair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yargnits, thanks! That's exactly what I plan to do! I had to purchase these two as a pair, otherwise I would have kept looking for a nicer pattered male. I'm having a hard time finding one that I like now - I need to get to know more Hystrix breeders! What happened to yours?

i got four very small very skinny ones. one died the first night, the rest did well until shock killed the male (a sudden loud bang on the tank :( ) leaving me with two females that looked similar to yours (although i had a favourite ).

these two grew on and did well but the search for a male in the uk was hard especially with some well known people searching for hystrix as well at the same time. so when i was offered a good deal (after a few offers from different people) i reluctantly chose to accept it and whilst i will probably never find a hystrix as good as the female i had i cant fault the deal i was given for them.

keep looking for a nice male, it would be a shame to breed such a nice female with a regular male imo. will be nice to see how the pups turn out when you eventually get there

good luck and keep us posted, its nice to see more interest in hystrix coming though on the forums :)

Yargnits, sorry to hear about your lost Hystrix :( Huge bummer. I will certainly keep looking for a nice male (searching now!) - I'll keep you updated with progress. Like you said, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. We should start seeing stingrays on lists pretty soon with collection time almost here (I work at a LFS), so if I don't find anything captive bred soon I may just take a chance on some wild caught if something shows up that might be worth the gamble. My female was wild caught, so you just never know! I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the encouragement!
