My Ray's not doing so hot... please help

So far nothing really to tell... I appreciate the help and support though.

Does anyone have any ideas about the white film on the eye? Bacteria? I honestly don't know... And like, the film just dissipeared earlier and it looked like she had popped a blood vessel in her eye... then the film came back and now the red is back...

The room is completely dark now, as much as I dislike not being able to watch her every move...

aqua safe nutralizes chlramines which gives you false reads on amonia, as far as the eye thing... i donno i would need to see pix, add salt, 3lb per 100 gallons

Salt has been added... I'll try and get a picture of the eye... Theres one at the top of the film on the eye.

I had no idea about the AquaSafe though. What kind of false readings does it give? Too high or too low? Should I not be using any conditioner or anything? I just started aquaria a year ago and got a starter kit, which is what it told me to do. I got my ray in June of last year and have never had any problems with either tank really. Occasionally I'll get an extremely high ammonia reading so I'll do another water change, but thats about it.

yeah just do as directed but a pic of the eye would deff help...good luck man hope shes okay

one other question. you said you get occasional ammonia spikes? what size tank? other tank mates? filtration? water change schedule?...that shouldn't be happening...

Water is a bit cloudy, might want to keep an eye on her eyes.
A little salt should help.

2 things -

1. False ammonia reading means false positive, means it will show presence of ammonia but the ammonia has already been bound

2. "Occasionally getting extremely high ammonia readings" means that your tanks' either: under filtered, over stocked, over fed, too "clean" meaning that for some reason you have not allowed sufficient bacteria to colonize the tank/filter or you have killed it inadvertently while cleaning said tank or filters.

The white film over the eyes is a result of high ammonia conditions, it takes days for it to clear up, not a permanent effect. I have no info on the blown blood vein though.

well add this to a leson learned
DONT EVER TOUCH YOUR BIO MEDIA.....

add somekind of bio booster and media from another tank....

why the hell would you replace some of your media???
